In January 1950, the Camden Housing Authority (CHA) was created through the efforts of local government and many involved and informed citizens. Over 60 years later CHA continues to provide many services for the Camden community and surrounding area.

The Camden Housing Authority has been served by only 26 different commissioners since its inception. The present group, like their predecessors, serves a very important function while serving without pay. They establish the policies and procedures that are required in order for the authority to operate effectively and efficiently. The present Board of Commissioners represents a good cross section of our community as businessmen and women, educators, and professionals.
